The Save Wetlands, Save Delhi project is an online, interactive inventory of all existing wetlands of Delhi being developed through citizens’ participation using a Citizen Science approach.

Project Team


Dr. Govind Singh
Principal Investigator

Dr. Govind Singh is Associate Professor of Environmental Studies and Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs at Jindal School of Environment and Sustainability, O.P. Jindal Global University. He is also the Co-Founder and Honorary Director of Delhi Greens. Dr. Govind Singh has been researching on wetlands of Delhi since completing his Ph.D. in 2013. His Ph.D. thesis explored the relationship between surface and ground water and urbanisation of Delhi, the findings of which motivated him to work for wetland conservation in the NCT of Delhi. Dr. Govind Singh first conceptualized interactive wetland inventorization in 2013 and created an inventory of wetlands of North Delhi while working as Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies at Cluster Innovation Centre, University of Delhi. Dr. Govind Singh is an active voice for wetland conservation in Delhi and is the principal investigator of this Save Wetlands, Save Delhi online, interactive inventory.


Ms. Konsam Nirmala Devi
Project Coordinator

Ms. Konsam Nirmala Devi is Executive Director of Delhi Greens and Project Coordinator of the Save Wetlands, Save Delhi project. Ms. Konsam Nirmala Devi has an expertise in understanding the challenges faced by wetlands and developing strategies for wetland conservation. Prior to joining this project, she has been an ICMR-funded Research Fellow at the University of Delhi, working on understanding the challenges in the conservation of Loktak Lake in Manipur.


Dr. Geetanjali Sageena
Project Co-Coordinator

Dr. Geetanjali Sageena is Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies at a constituent college in the University of Delhi. Her Ph.D. research work focused on environmental stressors like heavy metals that disturb the ecosystem at an accelerating rate. Dr. Geetanjali Sageena has since been interested in generating environmental awareness as well as imparting education for the conservation of wetlands.


Ms. Shruti
Academic Intern (Spring 2021) – Forest Research Institute, Dehradun

Shruti is pursuing her Master’s in Environmental Management from Forest Research Institute (FRI) Deemed to be University, Dehradun and is a final year student.
